Epic released the Game Animation Sample which is a cutting edge Motion Matching Locomotion System but it lacks a Layering System to be used with Equipment and Weapons. So I deciced to extract that system from ALSV4 and add it to the Sample project.

Thanks everyone for the support 🙏
Project will probably go live next weekend. There is still some work to be done but it's almost there.
you get new subscriber I love to see that what will be the final result when u migrate all ALS Overlays in to this
was literally just asking someone the other day if they'd tried using linked anim layers with it how sixze does with refactored, hell yeah lol i appreciate ya
new subscriber here! Thank you for your effort! You're an amazing resource for someone learning game development!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Will be there!
Doing my work for me!
You've done our work for so long and still at it. We're just giving back a little 💜
Love how you're the top dawg but still interact with your community.
Any plans to make the 5.5 update available on the marketplace?
dude... i dont know how the hell you managed to do this, but it looks AMAZING!!!
gonna IMPLORE you to release a tutorial on how you did it in whatever shape you want, I'm there for it. This is a lifesaver!
insta subscribe
Thanks buddy! I will for sure release an in depth video with the project files 😉
@@PolygonHive not that i actually think about it, how did u even manage to run als in 5.4? i thought it stopped in 5.0
@@Tenchinu it didn't stop actually, it's available for all version up to 5.4
my man this is so crazy that you pulled this off and also made it this way , it looks simple and easy to use and also the movements looks great too !!
Thanks! Yeah I tried to keep it clean so that we can keep updating this with future updates of the sample 😉
Someone just earned a bunch of new subscribers. Well done!
Thanks man! I didn't expect this much excitement for this merge 😅
This is awesome, looking forward to seeing how it works. Keep it up!
Thanks mate! Love your work as well 😉
@@PolygonHive I appreciate that. Thanks.
Thank you for your work ! I'll definetly stay tuned !
You're welcome!
Amazing work ! I am currently playing with this GameAnimationSample to add some lyra animation. As a Gameplay Programmer this is a struggle but your project will resolve all my issues ! Subscriptions and likes are well deserved sir :)
Thanks buddy 🙏 as programmers we have the same needs ^^
Awesome job, and thank you for sharing it.
Thanks! You're welcome!
Thanks for putting in the work! Subscribed!
Thanks for the support! The project is ready! Enjoy :)
Damn, this is great! I'm mostly working with characters and animations, but I never have enough time to study ALS and method in Anim Sample Project is definitely not for our studio scale. But this approach is just a right thing for me - I can just don't use the motion matching and then the scale is just right.
Also + to split one anim sequence with different poses to separate one, I too like this approach more. Good luck! 💫
Thanks mate! Yeah as developers we just want to focus on cool gameplay and I hope this will enable it! And yeah working with poses is just simpler for non animators 😅
Cleanly done, I like it!
Thanks! Did a lot of different implementations trying to architecture this correctly. It think this is the right one 👍
I am so grateful for this, thank you so much. Subscribed, can't wait to see the follow up.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice job! Marrying ALS and the GASP makes 100% sense.
Yeah when I looked at GASP it's actually using a very similar approach to ALS in its structure so it made perfect sense 👍
Brilliant idea!
Someone had to do it!
Thanks for your service brother!
You're welcome bro! Just doing my part for the community 💪
Amazing 😍, cant wait for the project files!
Thanks! The project is ready. Enjoy!
Amazing work, Thank you so much!! @@PolygonHive
This is awesome work man, keep it up!!!
Thanks bro!
@@PolygonHive np!
This is so good, I'd love to do this but way beyond my knowledge. I really hope you do a tutorial or a breakdown of how you do this
There will be some tutorials soon ;)
@@PolygonHive I've managed to duplicate a lot of your work. Really good work figuring all this out 👍
Thank you Polygon Hive. I hope you can add a feature to expand the ability to climb non-standard obstacles, which allows users to perform climbing or flipping actions on some models in the scene, and I also hope to add a foot ik so that the character can walk on stairs or slopes without any hanging problems
Dynamic parkour is next on my list, so yep it's coming ;)
@@PolygonHive thanks,cool
I keep coming back to watch this and drool
Haha thanks for the support 🙏
bro i was literally thinking about it yesterday
thx u bro for the vid
You're welcome! Yeah it completely made sense to me as well when I started exploring the project as well 😉
This is amazing !!! SUBSCRIBED !
Thank you 🙏
Im obviously subing and liking this amazing gift 🎁
Haha thank you 🙏
Man, we would LOVE for you to release a tutorial showing how you did this!! Also, please teach how to modify the animations for custom animations.. Please!
Any ALS overlay tutorial should help you understand how this works. There are a lot of them online. But anyhow I'll try to make one soon 😉
Thank you very much!
Doing gods work!
Unreal Engine community growing stronger every day 💪
Wow dude this is awesome
Thanks! Glad you like it 🙏
Great stuff i highly highly highly highly recommend moving to the Refactored version of ALS its still being updated and managed and it has a much more optimized setup out of the box, some of the c++ stuff might give some trouble, but if you or anyone else plans to use this setup for an actual game is a 100% requirement for anything to scale well.
However, if not, I may end up mixing the two myself at some point once i've finished all my custom locomotion setup on top of als as is and I'd happily share it when the time comes. That said, i still can't recommend the shift enough because the two mixed together might be the best locomotion setup possible with so little setup.
I am looking at Refactored as well. For now I am just porting the animation features. No logic or anything else. I would like to keep this project blueprint only for now. But I do look how refactored has evolved some parts of the animation system 😉
Ur awesome!
Ur awesome !
Subscribed ... keep it up ...
Thanks! Will do 💪
The goat
OOOOOF... (ALS Community networked version would be even more icing on the cake)
Step by step I am hoping we'll get this to become the new community standard for locomotion 😉
@@PolygonHive is already the favorite ..hey man how you extract the entire overlay intoo new abp? (i was trying to achieve something similar but with layer blend per bones and all that ugly combined trees of nodes wich i don;t like so much....... this method with linking the entire abs is nice ...how we do that?
Epic will prob use the new mover component as the new default and the GASP will switch to it too at some point
@@krz9000 for sure they will make alot changes but untill then we can play with it , when they release new updates we grab that and we start modify also :))))) .... point is if they not bring Overlay layers like in ALS we have to do this change ourselfs :D
🤩Tnx Man!
You're welcome!
Thank you bro
You're welcome buddy 💪
This looks amazing!.
great work!.
Any idea about Replication?
I saw someone on RUclips that replicated the sample so it's doable. It's just about replicating the acceleration channel in the CMC for motion matching but it can't be done without C++.
I think the way forward will be using Mover 2.0 instead of CMC which would make replication easier.
🤩
thank you
You're welcome!
Bro... WHERE ARE THE PROJECT FILES !!! :D
I've been following all channels that have the bleeding edge of motion matching..
I need those files to move forward.... and also thank you!
I will be releasing it next weekend most probably. It's not an easy task to do it properly 😅
Should i decide to create a project from the new Animation Sample. Will i then later on be able to update, the project. Or will I have to start all over?
Hey,
Thank you so much for this!
I have a couple of issues though,
1st one being that I can't bring up the menu for guns etc (1H pistol and so on)
and the second being i can't roll (don't know if it wasn't added or i'm just missing the file?)
Thanks you!
For the menu it's hard wired to Q button in the CBP_SandboxCharacter's OverlayGraph.
For the roll I didn't port it from ALS.
I had an idea for the old ALS project that I never implemented and I'm curious. I wanted to combine the left and right arms of injured and pistol 1H animations, would that be overly complicated at this point?
That would be pretty complex and would requiring a different layering setup. but not impossible.
Great Job, do you have a discord server ?
Not at the moment, but I'll probably create one with the release of the project 😉
Hey! I just wanted to ask, if its okay to use your animations if i make a game? Im not so good at animating/motion matching.
Yes, you can use them in any Unreal Engine project 👍
Thanks. I hope i will be able to make a full game. This saved me a lot of time
hi,Polygon Hive, I found that the downloaded project is missing two official characters, CBP_SandboxCharacter-Echo and CBP_SandboxCharacter-TwinBlast. I tried to migrate them from the official original project, but after migration, the characters cannot be used and remain in A POSE. Can you add them to your project, or is there any way to solve it?
I removed them because they bloat the project size a lot. If you migrated them you have to add them to the retargeted characters TMap in the retarget anim blueprint.
Under RetargetedCharacter you have the ABP_GenericRetarget. There is a TMap IKRetargeter_Map inside, add the config for those characters there.
Also, what do I press to call up that little menu with all the weapons
Q and then scroll the mouse wheel 👍
nice work, its this replicated?😊
Thanks! Not yet but I am planning to look into it 👍
Hey, you going to upload the project files for free?
Yup 😉
@@PolygonHive Ohh, I can't wait till you are releasing it... When u going to release it? Its looking sooo good!
@@TaqusiTV Probably end of this week-end ;)
can this be used as multiplayer?
For now I am just working on the Layering system. But I may look into multiplayer afterwards. Shouldn't be very hard to replicate 👍
You bueatiful human being! I cant beleave your doing this for free but I love you for it! Im Using ALSV4 on my game "Stairway to Narnia" (Subtle promo) And if you do what your saying your gonna do then my game can be SO much better. TLDR: Thank you! Very helpful (:
Thank you for the kind words! I am glad you're excited for this. If my work can you help your game dev journey, then I will be even happier for it 😃
I tried using GASP-ALS.
I get the phenomenon of going through walls when crouching.
What do you think is the cause?
It is as shown in the video.
ruclips.net/video/AdZwwGApVM8/видео.html
That's a knows bug because the Crouch animations are still work in progress. It should be fixed with the 5.5 release of GASP when they finish Crouch and Sprint.
@@PolygonHive I see.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
